Ash Saravanan, MBBS, MPH

Hometown: That's always a hard one to answer! I grew up in Mumbai, Kuwait, and Chennai before making my way to Minneapolis. The one thing all those places had in common was being close to the beach, so I guess I'm slowly trading oceans for lakes.

Medical School: MBBS, Saveetha Medical College and Hospital; MPH - Epidemiology, University of Minnesota

What are you most looking forward to during your program? I'm looking forward to being part of a team where research and clinical care go hand in hand. I'm excited to learn from such an experienced group while contributing to research that has a meaningful impact on patient care. I also hope to continue growing as both a researcher and a physician through this fellowship.

What is your favorite Minnesota activity? Exploring new restaurants around the Twin Cities. I love trying different cuisines, and if you're looking for restaurant recommendations, I'm always happy to share a list. I also enjoy spending time in Stillwater and watching how the seasons change.

Plans after fellowship: My goal is to pursue a neurology residency and continue building a career that combines clinical care rooted in research.

If you weren’t a physician, you would be...? I like coding and would have probably become a computer/software engineer.
